The Ashaiman District Police Command has arrested Francis Alidu for allegedly receiving 18 compressed slabs of suspected Indian hemp concealed in sacks of cassava.
Alidu is expected to be charged with unlawful possession or control of narcotic drugs, contrary to Section 37(1) of the Narcotics Control Commission Act, 2020 (Act 1019).
A police brief on Tuesday said that on October 31, 2025, at 2110 hours, Ashaiman Police received intelligence from Ho Police about a bus driver arrested with suspected Indian hemp and a receiver in Ashaiman.
The statement said police tracked the receiver, Alidu, and arrested him at Ashaiman KFC.

While Alidu was being interrogated, he reportedly received a call from another commercial driver informing him that a sack of cassava had been delivered for him and dropped in front of the KFC premises.
Police officers proceeded to the location and retrieved the sack, which was brought to the station.
According to the statement, the sack was searched in the presence of the suspect and was found to contain 18 compressed slabs suspected to be Indian hemp hidden among the cassava.
“Suspect will be handed over to the Ho Regional Police for further investigation,” the statement said.
