The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused the Mahama administration of launching a state-sponsored witch hunt against former government officials, warning that Ghana’s democracy is being undermined by political persecution and abuse of power.

According to Justin Frimpong Kodua, General Secretary of the NPP, the government’s actions against opposition figures reflect a deliberate attempt to intimidate and silence critics.

“What we are witnessing is a coordinated, state-sponsored witch hunt against former officials of the previous government,” he stated.

Mr Kodua cautioned that such conduct threatens the foundations of democratic governance.

“Our democracy is being poisoned by the abuse of state power for political vendetta. This is not justice — it is persecution,” he said, urging civil society and the international community to take note of the developments.

He reaffirmed the NPP’s commitment to defending democratic principles and protecting the rights of its members.

“The NPP will not be intimidated. We will continue to stand for fairness, accountability, and the rule of law,” Mr Kodua added.
