Anas Sabit of JoyNews, a subsidiary of The Multimedia Group Limited (MGL), has been recognised for his outstanding work in promoting local travel, securing the award for Best Reporting in Domestic Tourism at the 29th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards.
The prestigious event, held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, celebrated excellence in journalism.

Sabit’s win underscores MGL's commitment to excellence and specialised reporting that directly impacts national development and cultural awareness.
Anas Sabit's award reinforces the group's continuous investment in quality journalistic output, particularly in niche areas like tourism, which is a critical pillar of Ghana's economy.
Sabit's award-winning reportage is vital to the theme of the 29th GJA Awards: "Safeguarding Ghana's future: The role of the media in promoting peace, security and the fight against galamsey."
By focusing on domestic tourism, his stories directly support the government's efforts to diversify the economy, especially in light of initiatives like 'See Ghana, Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana', which encourage local exploration and spending.
Tourism is a significant foreign exchange earner, projected to contribute over $2 billion to Ghana’s GDP annually, and reporting like Sabit's is essential for driving the traffic and investment needed to sustain the industry's growth.
The top award, Journalist of the Year, was won by Godwin Asedibe of TV3, who, along with the other top three winners, secured an all-expenses-paid trip to Turkey, sponsored by Turkish Airlines.
The Multimedia Group Limited swept eight awards on the night, solidifying its status as the foremost private media organisation in Ghana.
