Black Stars team manager Ameenu Shardow has rejected claims that players feign injuries during friendlies and AFCON qualifiers, urging Ghanaians to trust official GFA information.
Several key players, including Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Kudus, Thomas Partey, and Alexander Djiku, missed Ghana’s 2-0 loss to Japan and 1-0 defeat to South Korea in November, sparking doubts about the authenticity of their absences.
“When the GFA puts out official information that a player is injured, do not doubt us at all. Because these things are science,” Shardow told Sporty FM.
Head coach Otto Addo had earlier outlined difficulties in squad preparation ahead of the South Korea defeat.
“We were facing some difficulties through some injured players,” Addo said, noting that Francis Abu, Mohammed Salisu, and Antoine Semenyo were sidelined.
Abu underwent surgery after fracturing two bones against Japan, while Salisu and Semenyo returned to their clubs with injuries.
Addo also cited visa complications as a challenge for calling up replacements.
