President John Mahama has called on Ghana’s newly appointed ambassadors to uphold the nation’s historic commitment to Pan-Africanism and global leadership as they assume their diplomatic roles.
Addressing the new batch of envoys at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, the President drew inspiration from Ghana’s first president, Dr Kwame Nkrumah and reminded the envoys of the nation’s enduring responsibility to champion African unity and sovereignty.
“Since the era of our first president, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana has carried an enduring vision of an Africa that is strong, that is united, sovereign and capable of defining its own destiny and future.
"As you take up your positions, you carry forward that legacy of Dr Nkrumah. Wherever you serve, Ghana must be known for leadership, for fairness and unwavering commitment to the Pan African cause," he stated.
The President also urged the diplomats to build strong partnerships, deepen economic and political cooperation, and help reinforce Ghana’s voice in regional and global affairs.
President Mahama said their appointments reflect a strong vote of confidence in their competence, years of public service and unwavering dedication to Ghana.
He noted that the world is undergoing rapid transformation driven by technological innovation, shifting geopolitical dynamics, climate pressures and evolving economic systems.
In this environment, he stressed, Ghana’s diplomats must rise to the challenge with a renewed sense of purpose.
He underscored Ghana’s longstanding reputation as a beacon of peace, stability and democracy, qualities that must continue to guide the country’s engagement on the global stage.
