Aburi Girls’ Senior High School has marked its 79th Speech and Prize-Giving Day with a celebration of culture, excellence, and tradition.
The event, held on Saturday, 22nd November 2025, was themed “A Legacy of Light: Influencing Future Generations.”

The ceremony featured cultural performances, exhibitions, the naming of new houses, and prize presentations.

Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the First Lady, Lordina Mahama, Deputy Chief of Staff (Admin) Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, focused her message on discipline, responsible digital behaviour, and the power of education to shape the next generation.
She urged students to protect their dignity online, avoid harmful digital trends, and uphold the values that define Aburi Girls SHS — integrity, humility, and upright leadership.

She also encouraged teachers to guide students firmly, monitor digital influences, and incorporate AI, media literacy, and emerging digital skills into everyday teaching.
Nana Oye highlighted key government reforms under the Education Reset Agenda, including improvements to the Free SHS policy, enhanced school feeding, renewed infrastructure investment, free tertiary education for first-year students, and better teacher welfare.

She praised Aburi Girls SHS for remaining a “Light on the Hill” and nurturing morally grounded young women.
The event was chaired by Mrs Marian Yeboah, with addresses from Headmistress Mrs Wilhelmina Obuobisa-Atakora, Mrs Lydia Essuah, and AOGA Global President Prof. G. Koryoe Anim-Wright.

There was also an anniversary cake cutting and the symbolic handing over of the torch to the 2001 Year Group.
Aburi Girls’ SHS once again affirmed its legacy of excellence, culture, and leadership for generations to come.
