We have players who can stand any challenge - John Painstil backs Ghana ahead of 2026 WC

Black Stars assistant coach John Paintsil has expressed strong confidence in Ghana’s ability to advance from the group stages of the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite a challenging draw.

Ghana has been placed in Group L alongside England, 2022 World Cup semifinalists Croatia, and Panama - a lineup many have described as one of the tournament’s trickiest.

Speaking on the team’s chances, Paintsil insisted the Black Stars have what it takes to defy expectations.

“It’s a tricky group, one Ghanaians cannot underrate. Forget about the names — I believe it’s a group that will bring the best out of the team,” he said.

“Our performances in the qualifiers were fantastic. We have a squad of highly skilled players who can rise to any challenge.”

Ghana will be making its fifth appearance at the global showpiece, seeking a return to the knockout stage for the first time since 2010.
