Technical Advisor for the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, Betty Krosbi-Mensah, has expressed confidence in the Black Stars of Ghana ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The tournament’s draw, held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., United States, on Friday, December 5, 2025, placed Ghana in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama.
Many have expressed scepticism over Ghana’s chances, recalling their group-stage exit in the 2022 tournament.
However, Krosbi-Mensah believes the 2026 World Cup will favour Ghana given the strength of the squad.
“We’re well prepared to face any team like Brazil or Spain, and we are not worried or disturbed.
"Looking at Ghana’s group, we are not afraid of England, Croatia, and Panama,” she said.
“I’m very confident that this World Cup will favour Ghana because we are not just participating, but proving that we have the talent and the men to deliver,” she added.
The Black Stars will be making their fifth World Cup appearance since their debut in Germany in 2006.
Ghana aims to build on past performances, including a quarterfinal run in 2010.
Led by coach Otto Addo, the squad will seek a deep tournament run.
Ghana will open their campaign against Panama in Toronto on June 17 before facing England and Croatia on June 23 and 27, respectively.
The 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup will feature 48 countries, the largest in the tournament’s history, and will be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
