One person has been reported dead following a bee attack on supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Kpandai District after a campaign engagement on Sunday, December 14.
The incident reportedly occurred shortly after the NDC wrapped up its campaign activities in the area.
According to the party’s Kpandai Constituency Secretary, identified as Mr Robert, the situation unfolded unexpectedly, throwing the gathering into panic.
The deceased, said to be a traditional leader from one of the communities in the district, was travelling on a motorbike when he was suddenly attacked by a swarm of bees.
In an attempt to escape, he reportedly dismounted and tried to flee amid the chaos that followed.
Amid the confusion, the man lost his life, with the circumstances surrounding his death still unclear.
While some residents have attributed the incident to spiritual causes, describing it as a curse, these claims remain unverified and have not been confirmed by the authorities.
Security agencies are expected to investigate the matter to establish the precise sequence of events.
The incident comes at a time of intense political activity in Kpandai, ahead of the parliamentary election rerun scheduled by the Electoral Commission for Tuesday, December 30, following the annulment of the 2024 results over collation irregularities.
