Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing of a 32-year-old man during an attempted kidnapping at Jilima in Garin Kuuka, an isolated community near Chereponi in the North East Region.
The Saboba District Police Commander, ASP Victor Koafo, has confirmed that the suspects are in custody and are due for screening tomorrow.
"We arrested four, and I will be parading them before my Divisional Commander tomorrow," he stated.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night when two armed men allegedly attempted to abduct the victim, identified only as Hashim, at his residence.
Hashim, described by relatives as a wealthy young Fulani businessman, reportedly resisted the attackers, leading to a struggle.
During the confrontation, one of the assailants allegedly shot him, resulting in his death at the scene. The attackers fled immediately after the incident.
Security personnel from the Saboba District Police Command later visited the community to assess the situation and begin investigations.
Police say intelligence-led operations led to the arrest of four suspects believed to be connected to the crime.
The killing has increased fear among residents of the surrounding communities, where concerns over kidnapping and armed attacks have reportedly increased in recent months.
Residents are calling for intensified security patrols and swift justice, while police have appealed for calm and urged the public to cooperate with ongoing investigations.
