The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested six suspected land guards following a gun battle at Trasacco in Accra.
The arrest followed a distress call received by the police on January 10, 2026, at about 12:50 pm. A police situational report said officers responded to the call and, upon reaching the scene, saw a group of about 50 men firing at workers.
According to the report, the police returned fire and pursued the suspects into a nearby bush.
Six of the suspects were arrested during the operation. Items retrieved included one AK-47 rifle with five rounds of ammunition, one Luger T9 rifle with five rounds of ammunition, and one Regard MC rifle with 13 rounds of ammunition.
Four motorbikes were also intercepted during the operation.
The suspects, together with the retrieved exhibits, were taken to the Accra Regional Police Headquarters, where they are being held for further investigation.
The police said investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the group who fled the scene.
