The Sefwi Asuopiri community in the Bia West District of the Western North is set to hold a mass burial for seven individuals who tragically lost their lives in a road accident.
Six elderly women and a man, all from the community, and with their ages averaging 63 years, perished in the ghastly accident.
The final funeral rites will to take place on January 22, 2026, at the Sefwi Asuopiri Community Centre.
The deadly crash involved a tricycle (aboboyaa) and a timber truck at Sehwi Asikuma on January 7, 2026.

The accident occurred when the aboboyaa, carrying the rider and seven market women, collided head-on with the timber-laden truck travelling in the opposite direction.
Eyewitnesses reported that the timber truck was speeding, forcing the aboboyaa rider to swerve in an attempt to avoid the collision. Despite the attempt, the truck reportedly rammed the tricycle with devastating force.

The impact was severe, leaving the aboboyaa mangled and killing six occupants on the spot. Two women sustained life-threatening injuries and were rushed to the Essam Cocoa Clinic, where they are currently receiving intensive medical care.
