The Bawumia Campaign has strongly condemned what it describes as “baseless, uninformed and unwarranted” personal attacks by Kennedy Agyapong against Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President of Ghana, ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries.
In a statement issued on January 20, the campaign said it had taken note, “with great concern”, of a recent video message in which Mr Agyapong allegedly accused Dr Bawumia of making remarks about the health status of the late Mr Albert Adu Boahen and a supposed decision not to contest the 1996 NPP primaries.
The statement rejected the claims in their entirety, stressing that Dr Bawumia had never made such comments.

“For absolute clarity, Dr Bawumia has never made the statements that have been attributed to him,” the campaign said, challenging Mr Agyapong to “produce the video or audio evidence without further delay if he stands by this baseless attack”.
The campaign further criticised Mr Agyapong for branding Dr Bawumia a liar and unfit for leadership, warning that such conduct undermines internal party cohesion.
“In our political discourse, accuracy matters. Words also matter. Wrongful attributions have the potential to unnecessarily mislead the public and inflame tensions within our Party,” the statement noted.
Calling for restraint, the campaign urged Mr Agyapong to apologise, emphasising Dr Bawumia’s commitment to respectful politics.
“Dr Bawumia believes that as leaders, we must always state our views devoid of tantrums and personal insults while maintaining truthfulness, decorum, and restraint at all times,” the statement, signed by Nana Akomeah, Chairman of Campaign Communications, added.
