Former Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund, Irene Naa Torshie Addo, has emphasised the qualities she believes the New Patriotic Party (NPP) must prioritise as it prepares to elect a flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
Speaking during an interaction with party delegates in the Atebubu/Amantin Constituency of the Bono East Region, she said the NPP requires a leader who is compassionate, courageous and firm, stressing that the party’s future depends on choosing someone with integrity and a strong connection to the electorate.
“NPP needs a leader with a kind heart, a man of valour and courage. Ghana also needs a businessman as President to help transform our lives,” she said, adding that leadership must be grounded in honesty and consistency.
Naa Torshie Addo noted that the next flagbearer must be someone whose words can be trusted and whose actions reflect commitment to the welfare of ordinary Ghanaians.
She further underscored the importance of integrity and hard work in rebuilding public confidence in the party, particularly as it seeks to return to power in 2028.
“Leadership founded on integrity, hard work and popular appeal is what the NPP needs at this time,” she stated.
She also observed that voter sentiment has shifted, saying, “A majority of Ghanaian voters now want a leader they can relate to and trust,” and urged delegates to bear this in mind when casting their ballots.
The NPP is set to hold its presidential primary on Saturday, January 31, to elect a flagbearer for the 2028 general elections, with five aspirants contesting the position.
