After touring all 276 constituencies across the country, presidential hopeful Dr Bryan Acheampong says the future of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) depends largely on how effectively it supports its grassroots base.

Reflecting on the exercise, the Abetifi MP described the journey as eye-opening and energising, saying it exposed him to the true spirit of the party in towns, villages and urban communities nationwide.

Addressing the media in Accra, the former Minister for Food and Agriculture said the tour enabled him to connect directly with party supporters who sustain the NPP beyond election periods.

From Elubo to Aflao and Cape Coast to Nkwanta, Dr Acheampong said he met foot soldiers, coordinators and polling station executives who continue to work for the party despite limited resources. He praised their consistency and loyalty, describing them as the engine that drives every campaign.

“This is the Osono party, the Didamiya party, the Atiglinyi party. Party papabi!” he said, using the slogan to emphasise the identity and resilience of the party’s grassroots network.

Dr Acheampong stressed that appreciation alone is insufficient, insisting the party must invest directly in its base. He pledged to support foot soldiers with logistics, training and organisational resources to strengthen mobilisation at the community level.

“The grassroots are not spectators. They are the backbone of victory,” he said, adding that a strong party is built first at the polling station before it reflects at the national level.

He explained that the nationwide tour was not merely a campaign exercise but an opportunity to listen, understand local challenges and shape a leadership approach that prioritises empowerment from the bottom up.

Dr Acheampong said the constituency-by-constituency engagement has given him firsthand insight into what party supporters need to work confidently and productively, noting that with the right motivation and resources, the NPP can rebuild its strength from the ground up ahead of future elections.
