Heart of Lions have handed Asante Kotoko a huge blow in their chase for the title following a 3-1 victory in the Ghana Premier League at the Kpando Sports Stadium.
Kotoko, who trailed leaders Medeama by eight points - after Friday's loss to Nations FC - could not take advantage of the slip up.
After a cagey opening exchanges, the visitors conceded a fine goal by Seedorf Asante in the 35th minute before Ali Fawzi made it 2-0 on the stroke of halftime.
Kotoko fought back to reduce the deficit after Samba O'Neil netted from a penalty around the hour mark.
But all hopes of a comeback was shattered when forward Michael Ephson restored the hosts advantage with 20 minutes remaining.
Kotoko, however, could not stage a fight back as Lions returned to winning ways after losing to Bechem in their previous encounter.
Kotoko now sit third on the standings with 35 points, five more than Lions who occupy the 7th spot.
Up next for the Porcupines is the super clash against Hearts of Oak in Kumasi while Lions are away to Berekum Chelsea.
