Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed confidence in former Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as competent and well prepared to lead the country.
Speaking after the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primary, Akufo-Addo said Dr Bawumia has the intellectual depth, experience, and leadership qualities required to govern Ghana effectively. “Bawumia has the competency to lead Ghana,” the former President stated.
He noted that Dr Bawumia’s years of service at the highest level of government have equipped him with a strong understanding of Ghana’s economic and governance challenges, adding that his record demonstrates readiness for national leadership.
Akufo-Addo’s endorsement follows Dr Bawumia’s decisive victory in the NPP presidential primary, where he polled 110,643 votes, representing 56.48 per cent of the total votes cast, to emerge as the party’s flagbearer.
The former President congratulated all aspirants who contested the race and called on party members to unite behind Dr Bawumia.
He urged supporters to work together, saying unity would be critical as the NPP positions itself for the next general elections.
