Telecommunications giant MTN Ghana is targeting the collection of over 7,000 pints of blood in this year’s nationwide “Save A Life” blood donation exercise, held on Friday, February 13, 2026.

The annual initiative, organised around the Valentine’s season, has evolved into a critical support system for health facilities across the country. Since its inception in 2011, MTN Ghana has successfully mobilised 26,620 units of blood, which have been distributed to major hospitals, including Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, 37 Military Hospital, as well as several regional and district hospitals nationwide.

In the Central Region, this year’s exercise was held at Academy of Christ the King Senior High School, Kwegyir Aggrey Senior High School, and Winneba Nursing and Midwifery Training College, where students and staff members actively participated in the life-saving initiative.

Speaking to the media at the Academy of Christ the King in Cape Coast, the Economic Empowerment Advisor of the MTN Ghana Foundation, Cynthia Mills, expressed optimism that the target would be exceeded. She urged Ghanaians to voluntarily donate blood to help replenish the nation’s blood banks and support patients in need.

The Human Resource Manager for MTN Southern Ghana, Regina Arkaifie, disclosed that blood collected in the Central Region would be supplied to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital and the Trauma and Specialist Hospital to strengthen emergency and specialist care services.

Samuel Odua Quarmyne of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital Blood Bank described MTN Ghana as “an archangel” to the facility, noting that the company has consistently supported the blood bank since 2014.

The Save A Life campaign underscores the importance of voluntary blood donation and demonstrates how corporate institutions can play a pivotal role in supporting Ghana’s healthcare system.
