MTN Ghana, in partnership with CalBank, has officially launched the 2026 edition of its annual “MTN Save A Life Campaign” with a nationwide blood screening and donation exercise held on Valentine’s Day, February 14, in Sawla and Bole.
The campaign, which has been running for the past 15 years, is a corporate social responsibility initiative that positions MTN as the leading corporate blood donor in Ghana.
Speaking on the initiative, the Savannah Territory Controller of MTN, Mr Abugbilla Matthew, explained that the project began after the National Blood Bank appealed to MTN for support to help replenish blood supplies across the country.

This year, with CalBank joining as a partner, a total of 37 blood collection centres have been set up across Ghana’s 16 regions. In the Savannah Region, donation exercises are taking place at Sawla Senior High School and Bole Senior High School.
The region is targeting 250 pints of blood to boost supplies at the regional blood bank. Health personnel from Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District Hospital and Bole Municipal Hospital are supporting the exercise.
Dr Barlobey Tettey Eric, a Biomedical Scientist at Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District Hospital, noted that MTN formally contacted the hospital and secured approval from school authorities before organising the event.

The campaign mainly focuses on senior high schools to nurture patriotism and encourage young people to contribute to saving lives. However, members of the wider community are also encouraged to participate.
The initiative seeks to strengthen voluntary blood donation efforts and enhance support for Ghana’s healthcare delivery system.
