The Gbetseli Manste, Nii Teye Kojo Amankwah Sune I, has issued a strong warning to authorities, including the Ghana Water Company Limited, to urgently resolve the persistent water crisis in the community or face a massive street demonstration.
He made the statement during the Gbetseli Annual Thanksgiving and Fundraising Programme.
Addressing the media and community members, the chief lamented that parts of Gbetseli have been without water for several months. He stressed that access to water is a basic necessity and should not be politicised.
According to him, “water is life,” describing the continued shortage as alarming and unacceptable. He warned that if immediate action is not taken, residents will march to the offices of Ghana Water next week to register their displeasure over the crisis.
Additionally, the Municipal Chief Executive for the Kpone Katamanso Municipal Assembly, Samuel Tetteh Kwashie Morton, pledged his full support to the community.
He assured residents that the Assembly would work closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure the water problem is resolved as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for the area, Joseph Akuetteh Tettey, reaffirmed his commitment to championing development in Gbetseli. He noted that efforts are underway to improve infrastructure and open up the community for accelerated growth.
