The Ghana Medical Trust Fund has received a major boost following a high-level engagement with Zenith Bank Ghana Limited, as the institution signalled its commitment to support the Fund’s vision of building “a healthier society where every citizen has access to specialist medical care for the management and treatment of non-communicable diseases.”
The Fund’s Administrator, Obuobia Darko-Opoku, together with the senior management team, held productive discussions with the Managing Director of Zenith Bank, Henry Chinedu Onwuzurigbo, and his delegation.
The meeting focused on the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Ghana and the urgent need for collective action.

With NCD-related mortality rates remaining high at 45 percent, both teams acknowledged the critical importance of sustainable interventions to improve access to specialist care.

Zenith Bank’s leadership expressed admiration for the progress made so far and indicated their readiness to partner with the Fund to help expand access to essential healthcare services.

The collaboration is expected to reduce the need for patients to travel abroad for treatment, while bringing renewed hope to families across the country.
The engagement underscored the power of partnership in addressing national health challenges, demonstrating what can be achieved when institutions unite behind a shared purpose.

In a lighter moment before the delegation departed, the Fund’s symbolic “Kyɛrɛ Wo Dɔ” Box captured their attention — and they generously contributed, adding a warm touch to an already impactful meeting.

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund expressed appreciation to Zenith Bank Ghana Limited for its commitment and looks forward to deepening the partnership when the Fund officially goes live in April.
