The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has airlifted Sarah Baafi Boateng, a victim of the November 12, 2025, recruitment stampede at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, to Accra for specialist care at the 37 Military Hospital.
Sarah has been bedridden since the incident, which occurred during the 2025/2026 enlistment exercise.
In a statement, the Ministry of Defence explained she had been receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) but was later referred for advanced medical attention after doctors assessed her condition.

A medical evacuation team from GAF transported her safely by air from Kumasi to Accra.
Upon arrival at the Air Force Base, she was received by a delegation from the Ministry of Defence led by the Principal General Staff Officer, Brigadier General Ben Gah.

She was subsequently handed over to medical personnel at the 37 Military Hospital for continued treatment.

The Ministry of Defence says the evacuation forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure that Sarah receives comprehensive medical support following the tragic events at the stadium.

The stampede, which drew large crowds of recruitment hopefuls, left several injured and reignited conversations about safety arrangements during high-attendance exercises.

Officials maintain that her transfer to the 37 Military Hospital is aimed at giving her access to more advanced care as she continues her recovery.
