The Accra Regional Police Command is investigating the death of 26-year-old Austin Tengeeh, a Liberian national, following an incident at an apartment complex in Lashibi near Sakumono on Friday, 27th February 2026.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the deceased had visited his brother at the apartment with his girlfriend when some residents and members of the public attacked him. The caretaker of the apartment had raised an alarm accusing the deceased of theft, which sparked the assault.
A police patrol team responded quickly to the distress call, rescued Austin Tengeeh, and rushed him to the Sakumono Community Hospital for emergency treatment. Sadly, he was pronounced dead on arrival by the medical officer on duty.
His body has since been deposited at the Lashibi Funeral Home for preservation and autopsy.
Three suspects, Vincent Adzikah (38), Francis Amuzu (44), and William Addison (34) have been arrested and are in police custody assisting with investigations.
A fourth suspect, Enoch Mensah, remains at large, and efforts are ongoing to arrest him. The suspects are expected to appear before the court today, Monday, 2nd March 2026.
The Accra Regional Police Command warns the public against taking the law into their own hands. It reminds everyone that acts of mob justice and unlawful assault are criminal offences that undermine due process.
Members of the public are urged to report any suspected criminal activity to the police and allow lawful procedures to take their course.
