A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault following a motor accident at Maamobi in Greater Accra.
The Kotobabi District Police Command picked up the suspect after preliminary investigations suggested he attacked another driver during a dispute arising from the crash.
According to police, the incident occurred on Saturday, February 22, 2026, when officers on routine patrol in the Maamobi area encountered 24-year-old Yakubu Manan Abdul.
He reported that he had been involved in a motor accident with the suspect, identified as Razak Kwanda.
Investigators say that during the altercation, the suspect allegedly assaulted the victim.
The patrol team transported the injured man and his damaged motorbike to the Kotobabi Police Station, where a formal complaint was lodged, and investigations commenced.
Police later arrested the suspect on Wednesday, February 26, 2026, at about 9:45 a.m. He has since been granted police enquiry bail and is assisting with investigations.
The Accra Regional Police Command has cautioned the public against resorting to violence in the event of road traffic accidents or disputes. It urged the public to remain calm and allow law enforcement officers to handle such matters in accordance with the law.
The Command also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order and called on anyone with relevant information to support ongoing investigations.
