The arrest follows a complaint that on March 4, 2026, a resident returned home from work at about 1600 hours and discovered that her house had been broken into.
A police news brief said the complainant reported that cash amounting to GH¢1,000 and US$22,350, together with other personal effects, had been stolen.
Police investigations led to the arrest of the suspect, identified as Daniel Odai Afotey, at Labone Beach on March 11, 2026, following intelligence gathered by the Police.
A search conducted in the suspect’s room led to the recovery of the stolen items and other suspected stolen items, including gold watches, jewellery, mobile phones, and a television set.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to the offence and mentioned an accomplice identified only as “Ewonam”, who is currently at large.
The Police said efforts were underway to locate and arrest the accomplice.
The suspect will be arraigned on Monday, March 16, 2026.
The Police said they were working to trace the owners of the remaining recovered items and urged persons who might have lost property under similar circumstances within the Spintex, Teshie, Nungua and surrounding areas to contact the Criminal Investigations Department Headquarters to assist with identification.
