A suspected armed robber has died following an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Police Intelligence Directorate in the Ejura municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The special anti-robbery operation, which took place on March 18, 2026, was aimed at dismantling a robbery gang that has been terrorizing residents and commuters in the area.
According to police sources, the gang has been linked to a series of robberies along major highways and within the community.
During the operation, one of the suspects, identified as Amadu, also known as “Manu,” sustained gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have confirmed that the deceased suspect was connected to a robbery attack that occurred on March 14, 2026, along the Atebubu–Ejura highway. In that incident, robbers reportedly fired into a moving vehicle, injuring a passenger.
Items retrieved from the suspect include a single-barreled gun, five live cartridges, a Tecno Pop 10 mobile phone, and a cash sum of GH¢200.
The Police Intelligence Directorate has indicated that the operation has been intensified to track down and arrest other members of the gang, who remain at large. Authorities are urging anyone with information that could assist in the investigation to come forward.
Efforts to bring the remaining suspects to justice are ongoing.
