The Electricity Company of Ghana is undertaking extensive planned and emergency maintenance exercises across four regions today, Tuesday, March 24, with engineers set to undertake critical infrastructure upgrades that will temporarily disrupt power supply to scores of communities spanning the Ashanti, Central, Tema, and Accra West enclaves.
According to a comprehensive set of advisories issued by the power distributor over the past several days, the coordinated works are aimed at enhancing service reliability and strengthening the stability of the national grid. The outages will commence at varying times across affected areas, with most beginning at 9:00 am, though the duration of interruptions will differ significantly depending on the scope of works to be carried out at each location.
In the Ashanti Region, two separate maintenance exercises have been scheduled. The first and most extensive will run from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting a sweeping list of communities including Anwiankwanta, Dominase, Behenase, Ntinanko, Poano, Daa, Apaaso, Asanso Senfi, Adjemesu, Ofoase Kokoben, Nampansa, Amansie, Asiebu, Anwiam, Sisikro, Bodoma, Amponya, Ataase, Afoako, Homase, Bekrose, Adubrem, Penipa, Asikuma, Amoafo, Kwamang, Sanfo Aduam, Kensere, Pampaso, Adumasa, Abodom, Koniyaw, Askore, Kokotro, Subrisu, Asakyiri, Ahwiren, Essiase, Dwoamin, Bekwai Township, Korkyerekrom, Kwabetusu, Pepedan, Esumaja, Sebedie, Kokofu, Asankare, Asamang, and surrounding areas. A second, shorter exercise in the region will run from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, affecting Buobai town, Buobai Police Station, Buobai Muntaka, and surrounding localities.
In the Central Region, two separate maintenance operations have been scheduled. The first will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, affecting Saltpond Packaging, Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School, Abonko, Kuntu, Pebi, Lawyer Enchill, Roman Hospital, New Nkusukum, Mankessim, Bafikrom, Krofu Road, and surrounding areas. A second exercise during the same timeframe will impact Mpeasem, Krofofordo, Akaekrom, Brimsu, Asenadzi, Yayakwano, Ogua Apartments, and the surrounding communities.

In the Accra West Region, an emergency maintenance operation has been declared, requiring an eight-hour outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The affected communities include Akweteman, Nsawam Cannary, Adoagyiri Zongo, and surrounding areas. The ECG has indicated that these urgent works are necessary to address emerging faults and prevent further deterioration of service quality in that corridor.
In its public notices, the ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience that such technical interventions inevitably cause to both domestic and commercial activities.
The company, however, reassured the public that both the planned and emergency exercises are necessary to ensure the long-term robustness of the power network and to ultimately deliver improved service to consumers across the regions.
