The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has assured residents of the Ashanti Region that the party remains committed to fulfilling its campaign promises following its victory in the 2024 general election.

Speaking at Nsuta Kwamang Beposo during the first day of his Ashanti Regional “Thank You Tour,” Mr. Asiedu Nketia said the NDC would not abandon the pledges it made to the people and traditional authorities in the region.

He indicated that the tour was not only to express gratitude but also to begin a process of accountability, where the party would regularly assess its performance against promises made to Ghanaians.

According to him, although the challenges inherited upon assuming office were significant, the government under President John Dramani Mahama had begun taking steps to stabilise the country and improve living conditions.

He pointed to ongoing development initiatives, including projects in education and water supply, as early signs of progress, noting that such achievements were being recognised even by some supporters of the opposition.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia also highlighted the broad-based support the NDC received during the elections, explaining that many Ghanaians—across political divides—were concerned about the direction of the country and rallied behind the party to effect change.

He further urged unity within the party, cautioning against internal disputes over positions.

He stressed the importance of maintaining experienced party officers who contributed to the 2024 campaign success, warning that unnecessary internal changes could weaken future electoral efforts, particularly ahead of the 2028 elections.

He also called for the removal of non-performing officials while encouraging grassroots mobilisation and sustained engagement with communities across the region.

The NDC chairman expressed gratitude to chiefs, clergy, party branches, assembly members, and financial supporters, acknowledging their collective role in the party’s electoral victory and reaffirming the NDC’s commitment to inclusive governance and development.
