The highly anticipated JoyNews’ “Democracy Is Not For Sale” forum kicks off today, Friday, March 27, in Tamale, focusing on the rising influence of money in Ghanaian politics.
Scheduled for 4:00 PM at the GNAT Hall in Tamale, the forum will provide a platform for open discussions on the escalating cost of political participation, vote buying, and campaign financing.
Organised by the JoyNews Impact Makers Foundation, the initiative seeks to confront the surge in vote buying, the high cost of political participation, and the growing role of illicit financing in shaping electoral outcomes.
The Tamale dialogue is the first of ten regional forums across the country and aims to generate citizen-driven recommendations for a proposed Citizens’ Blueprint for Campaign Finance Reform while encouraging political leaders to make meaningful commitments to reform.
The forum will be broadcast live on JoyNews, Joy 99.7 FM, and affiliate stations, allowing citizens nationwide to follow the conversation.
As the forum unfolds, the focus remains clear: amplifying citizen voices, exposing the realities of money politics, and driving reforms to strengthen Ghana’s democracy.
