The University of Development Studies (UDS) have secured a place in the final of the 2026 Honda Football Championship after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS).
UDS were made to work for the win by a resilient UBIDS side that had impressed in the group stage, winning two of their three matches to underline their competitiveness in the tournament.
The semi-final clash lived up to expectations, with both teams displaying intensity and discipline from the first whistle. Clear-cut chances were few and far between as the two sides maintained compact defensive shapes, making it difficult to break each other down.
The game remained deadlocked for much of the contest, with both goalkeepers called into action and defences standing firm under pressure.
However, the breakthrough came in the 53rd minute when Zakavia Alhassan, wearing the number five shirt for UDS, rose to the occasion with a decisive strike to separate the two sides.
UDS managed the game effectively after taking the lead, holding off late pressure from UBIDS to secure victory and book their place in the final.
They will now face the University of Ghana (UG) in the final on Saturday at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 6:30pm.
The 2026 Honda Football Championship is powered by Honda and Overseas Union Ltd, the sole distributors of Honda Motorcycles in Ghana, and is produced by RITE Sports Services.
