A commercial fire erupted at the Ghana Digital Terrestrial Transmission Centre in Brekuso in the Eastern Region on Saturday, March 28, 2026, when a container containing solar inverter batteries caught fire.
According to a post shared on Facbook by Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the blaze, which posed a significant threat due to the volatile nature of the lithium batteries, was contained by the GNFS.

The fire started in a storage container at the transmission centre, engulfing the area in flames. Emergency responders from the Anyaa Fire Station were immediately dispatched to the scene after the distress call was made.
Upon arrival, firefighters were confronted with the intense blaze, fuelled by the lithium batteries, which are known for their tendency to cause rapid and severe fires.

Despite the challenging conditions, the Anyaa Fire Station team acted quickly and effectively. They managed to bring the fire under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby areas or causing further destruction. The fire was fully extinguished after a concentrated effort by the crew.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident. There were no injuries to personnel or anyone in the vicinity of the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, with authorities examining the circumstances surrounding the outbreak.
