The Paramount Chief of Wenchi, Osagyefo Ampem Anye Amoampong Tabrako III, has officially enstooled Ohemma Pokua Afoa Dankoto II, formerly Cecilia Nana Ama Pokua Dekyi, as the town’s new queen mother. The swearing-in ceremony took place at Ahenfie Yefri Palace on Saturday, 28 March.
The enstoolment was marked by a series of vibrant celebrations attended by several high-ranking chiefs, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the Akan people. Traditional music, dance, and colourful attire created a festive atmosphere, bringing together local chiefs, elders, family members, and well-wishers to honour the new queen mother.
During the swearing-in, Ohemma Pokua Afoa Dankoto II pledged to serve the community and uphold the town’s traditions. “My ancestors served the town of Wenchi excellently, and that has given me this opportunity to serve. I promise to respond to the call of Wenchi Town, whether in the morning, afternoon, or evening,” she stated.

In Akan tradition, the queen mother plays a crucial role in the welfare and development of the community, extending beyond ceremonial duties.
The Paramount Chief, Osagyefo Ampem Anye Amoampong Tabrako III, blessed the newly enstooled queen mother and pledged to collaborate with her in the development of Wenchi.
