Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reiterated the government’s commitment to complete all projects initiated by the previous administration.

He said it is the responsibility of every government to ensure that projects started with taxpayers’ money are completed and fully utilised for the benefit of the people. Unlike governments, which change periodically, citizens remain loyal in fulfilling their tax obligations, he added, emphasising the need to ensure projects funded by taxpayers serve their intended purpose.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah made the remarks while addressing chiefs and residents of Adankwame, near Barekese in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District, as part of his ‘thank you’ tour of the Ashanti Region.

The NDC chairman expressed regret over the wastage of many development projects initiated with taxpayers’ funds when governments change, stating that such a situation should no longer be allowed.

He urged party supporters to remain calm and patient as the government works to address their concerns.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah noted that Ghanaians entrusted the NDC with power due to perceived bad governance, favouritism, and nepotism by the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, especially regarding employment and distribution of national resources.

He assured that the NDC government would ensure equal opportunities for every Ghanaian, irrespective of background. Measures planned include eliminating discrimination, political favour, party protocol, and other biases in sharing national resources.

According to the National Chairperson, the government is determined to allow Ghanaians to access available resources fairly, without discrimination.

He thanked residents for voting 35 percent for the NDC in the region—exceeding the usual 25–27 percent the party historically secured in presidential elections there.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah called on all District, Municipal, and Metropolitan Assemblies to execute legacy projects using their common funds, noting that 80 percent of these funds had already been allocated to them.

Mr. Mba Zechariah Alenbilla, District Chief Executive (DCE), cited ongoing construction of roads, school blocks, health centres, mechanized boreholes, and sanitation exercises in Asamang, Barekese, Asuofua, Amakye Bare, Adankwame, and other communities.

He appealed for unity and cooperation among all stakeholders to achieve developmental goals in the area.

Mr. Patrick Kojo Wassaw, Constituency Vice Chairperson, urged the government to diligently implement its campaign promises to maintain public confidence in the party.

He added that Ghanaians trusted the NDC manifesto, which contributed to the party’s overwhelming victory in the 2024 elections, warning that failure to fulfil these promises would disappoint voters and be perceived as deceit.
