The Dzodze Traditional Council has formally informed the Ketu North Municipal Assembly and other key state institutions of the appointment of Torgbui Ege IV, Divisional Chief of Dzodze-Fiagbedu, as the Acting President of the Council.

The statement explained that the appointment of Torgbui Ege IV was made by the Volta Regional House of Chiefs in collaboration with the Chiefs of the Dzodze Traditional Council on June 18 in accordance with the Chieftaincy Act, 2008 (Act 759), following due process.

The notification, contained in a letter dated July 8 and addressed to the Municipal Chief Executive, the Member of Parliament for Ketu North, and copied to other relevant authorities.

It said Torgbui Ege IV would serve as Acting President of the Council for one year pending the resolution of the chieftaincy matter affecting the Dzodze Traditional Area.

The Council said the communication was necessary because Section 29 of the Chieftaincy Act designates the President of a Traditional Council as the official link between the Council, the Ketu North Municipal Assembly and the Government.

It said the notification would facilitate official engagements between the Acting President and state institutions while ensuring that the records of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs and the National House of Chiefs reflected the current administrative arrangement.

The Council expressed confidence that Torgbui Ege IV would provide leadership that promotes peace, unity, transparency and development within the traditional area during the period.

It said the Torgbui Ege looked forward to strengthening collaboration with the Ketu North Municipal Assembly, government agencies and other stakeholders to advance development initiatives, maintain security and improve sanitation in the municipality.
