JoyNews, in collaboration with IMANI Africa, has held a national dialogue on plastic waste management in Ghana, with a focus on the sustainability of the country’s Extended Producer Responsibility framework.

The dialogue has brought together key stakeholders, including experts from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), policymakers, representatives of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and other industry players, to examine challenges surrounding plastic waste management and explore sustainable solutions.

The discussions were focused on the implementation and sustainability of the Extended Producer Responsibility system, which places greater responsibility on producers and importers to manage the environmental impact of products and packaging throughout their lifecycle.

The dialogue also provided a platform for stakeholders to assess existing policies, identify gaps in implementation and discuss practical measures to improve plastic waste management in Ghana.
