Accra is set to host more than 200 delegates from across Africa for an international conference on economic restructuring, political reforms and regional integration.

The conference, scheduled for June 24, 2026, at the GNAT Hall, will bring together policymakers, academics, business leaders, traditional authorities, civil society organisations, youth leaders and development partners.

Organised by Harakati Za Muungano, a pan-African movement whose name means “Union Movement” in Swahili, the conference will focus on practical strategies to accelerate Africa’s development through deeper regional integration.

Key issues expected to be discussed include constitutional reforms, economic restructuring, regional market integration, industrialisation, governance continuity and sustainable financing models for development.

The organisers say the discussions are expected to produce practical recommendations to inform policy decisions at both national and regional levels.

Harakati Za Muungano, established in November 2023, has expanded its operations to 17 African countries, where it engages governments, regional institutions, traditional leaders, professionals, youth groups and community organisations.

Its work focuses on policy advocacy, research, civic engagement and humanitarian initiatives aimed at promoting inclusive development, strengthening regional cooperation and supporting reforms to improve the quality of life of Africans.

The movement advocates a more integrated Sub-Saharan Africa, where barriers to trade and movement are reduced, economic cooperation is strengthened and governments adopt policies that promote long-term planning, investment and shared prosperity.

According to the organisers, greater integration could create new opportunities for businesses, boost job creation, promote industrial growth and enhance Africa’s competitiveness in the global economy.

They say the conference will provide an opportunity for African leaders and stakeholders to examine bold and innovative approaches to the continent’s future while strengthening partnerships and advancing a shared vision of an economically resilient, politically stable and fully integrated Africa.
