African women are less likely to have substantial financial decision-making power according to latest survey conducted by Afrobarometer across 34 African countries.
The survey was done in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as part of a Pan-African Profile analysis which is soon to be released by the Pan-African research network.
According to the results of the survey, one in five women have no role in deciding how their money will be used in their households.
The full Pan-African Profile when released will examine popular support for gender equality, government performance on women’s rights and opportunities, and persistent gender gaps in education, employment and access to technology.
