The Member of Parliament for Tamale South and former Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu has described the ruling New Patriotic Patriotic Party (NPP) as the worst government of the fourth Republic.
According to him, current economic crisis is solely a result of poor governance and mismanagement.
At a campaign event for the Asawase MP in the Ashanti region, Mr Iddrisu pledged that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will actively uncover and challenge any corrupt practices by Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration, particularly in the Ashanti Region.
He emphasised the need to safeguard the ballot in the upcoming elections as a means of prevent rigging.
Mr Iddrisu was optimistic in the NDC ability to poll more votes in the Ashanti region due to the NPP’s poor performance. He explained that the party will need a little over 35% of the votes in the region to secure victory.
He touted Muntaka Mohammed, the NDC parliamentary candidate for Asawase, as a capable representative who would continue to serve Ghana and the Muslim community effectively in Parliament.
“We need just a little above 35% in Ashanti region and we declare John Dramani Mahama the winner of the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections. That is our aspiration, and we must work towards that. Hon. Muntaka Mohammed is your formidable representative in Parliament.
“He will continue to do good to the people of Ghana and he will continue to serve the Muslim Ummah better in Parliament. He has done it before, and he will continue to do it,” he said.
Mr Iddrisu urged Ghanaians to re-elect NDC flagbearer John Mahama and assured that Mr Mahama would deliver on his mandate as president.
“You saw the crowd this morning and we are seeing the crowd here. I hear the NPP saying that Ashanti is for NPP. Ashanti is only for NPP if they are performing. And Ashanti is only for NPP if businesses are good. Ashanti is only for NPP if unemployment was low. And therefore, we are optimistic that Asanteman will support John Dramani Mahama and support NDC to win,” he added.
