President Nana Akufo-Addo has criticised former President John Mahama and the NDC flagbearer for failing to provide a clear roadmap for his proposed 24-hour economy policy five days before the December 7 election.
He said Mahama’s lack of a comprehensive plan for implementing the policy raised concerns about its feasibility and potential impact on the economy.
President Akufo-Addo said the four years under former President John Mahama’s Administration and performance were responsible for his defeat in the 2016 elections.
He said Mr Mahama would lose again in the 2024 election.
Speaking in Dambai, President Akufo-Addo noted that every President before him, except Mahama, had been given a second term in office, and attributed Mahama’s loss to his abysmal performance which made Ghanaians unhappy.
He, however, questioned Mahama’s promise of a 24-hour Economy, drawing attention to the power crisis that occurred during his tenure in office as President of Ghana.
The President urged Ghanaians to reject former Mr Mahama in the upcoming elections, citing trust issues and the potential jeopardy of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.
Akufo-Addo claimed that Mahama’s return to power would undermine the progress made by his administration, particularly in education.
President Akufo-Addo said concerns about Mahama’s trustworthiness stemmed from his previous administration’s record, which he believes was marred by poor performance and unfulfilled promises.
He made a heartfelt appeal to Ghanaians to put their trust in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and vote for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s flagbearer in the upcoming December 7, 2024, elections.
He appealed to Ghanaians to place their confidence in NPP and vote for Dr Bawumia as President, emphasising that, a “vote for Bawumia and the NPP’s parliamentary candidates in the nine constituencies in the Oti Region will be a vote for continuity, growth and a brighter future for Ghana.”
