Ghana’s first female Attorney General, Betty Mould-Iddrisu, says Akufo-Addo's government has utterly disappointed the citizens.
According to her, the government's recklessness in borrowing and expenditure has led to the current economic crisis many individuals are faced with.
This, she said, has left many Ghanaians in a state of shock at the current economic hardship they had to endure.
“I think Ghanaians reeled from the shock, they cannot believe what they are in. I must say, I cherish being a Ghanaian even in the most difficult times because I think we are incredible people, we are so generous and we have this innate capacity to absorb so much...we have endured a lot.
“I think anybody can see we have been bitterly let down by this government,” she said in an interview with JoyNews.
The former Education Minister also explained that although the government has blamed the economic crisis on the Russian-Ukraine war, many Ghanaians are aware that the situation was a result of economic mismanagement.
“Not Ukraine or whatever it is. Nobody believes that story except them, so they should go ahead with false and misguided beliefs.
“It's sad, you know, that as a people we have to go through this,” she said on Friday
She said despite the resilient nature of Ghanaians, “it’s a pity that we have to continue even for another year.”
The former Attorney General continued that “the government of the country has been abominable even I never thought it could get this stage.”
Madam Mould-Iddrisu added amidst laughter that although the President is a personal friend, every Ghanaian could see that he had led the country into the pit.
