Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashimeru has expressed his confidence in Vincent Kompany's abilities as Bayern Munich's head coach, citing the Belgian's rapid success with the German giants.
Kompany, who previously managed Anderlecht before a successful stint at Burnley, took over at Bayern Munich in a move that surprised many in the football world.
Ashimeru, who worked under Kompany during the coach's time at Anderlecht, shared his thoughts on his former manager's progress.
"I've always believed in him because he's one coach that has really learned a lot. And I knew one day he would coach one of the top teams. And now he has it," the Ghanaian midfielder stated in an exclusive interview with Flashscore.
The early results seem to support Ashimeru's faith in Kompany. Bayern Munich has enjoyed a strong run of form under their new coach, with Ashimeru noting, "Everyone can see how the team is now. They've won about six games now and I think he knew what he wanted. He's a good coach overall. I think he will really go far. I've always believed in him."
Ashimeru's comments offer a unique perspective on Kompany's coaching style, having experienced it firsthand during their time together at Anderlecht. The midfielder highlighted Kompany's hands-on approach and ability to connect with players as key factors in his success.
"He's someone that is always interacting a lot with the players and even sometimes in training he joins and trains with the team. So, I think this one quality he has that will make you as a player want to fight for him, want to kill yourself for him. So, I think with this he will really, really go far."
This insight into Kompany's method sheds light on how the former Manchester City captain has been able to transition so smoothly into top-level management. His ability to inspire loyalty and commitment from his players appears to be translating well to the pressure-cooker environment of Bayern Munich.
