Head coach Otto Addo had a full squad at his disposal after nine players reported for training on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
By Tuesday, all 23 invited players had joined the session, intensifying preparations for the crucial World Cup qualifier against Chad on Friday, March 21, 2025.
Team Readiness
Every invited player was in action, competing for a spot in the final squad.
Undergoing intensive drills and tactical exercises, the players exhibited determination and focus, keen to impress the coaching staff and the passionate fans who gathered to watch them train.
Key players, including Thomas Teye Partey, Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Kudus, Alexander Djiku, Mohammed Salisu, Jerome Opoku, Jonas Adjetey, Ernest Nuamah, Francis Abu, Ebenezer Annan, and Antoine Semenyo, participated actively.
The squad’s preparation commenced on Monday with nine players before the remaining members joined on Tuesday. With a strong start to their training sessions, the Black Stars appear well-prepared to deliver a solid performance in their upcoming qualifiers.
GFA Executive Committee’s Influence
A recurring trend in Ghanaian football is the noticeable presence of certain Ghana Football Association (GFA) officials around the Black Stars. This has led to concerns about unnecessary interference.
Before last year’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Niger, GFA President Kurt Okraku took it upon himself to act as the team’s psychologist.
However, his speech reportedly had a negative impact on team morale, contributing to their failure to qualify.
Despite that setback, Okraku once again made an appearance at the Stars' second training session at the Accra Sports Stadium, addressing the players. His involvement continues to spark debate about whether such interventions benefit or disrupt the team’s focus.

Asamoah Gyan’s surprise appearance
A notable figure at the training ground was former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan. After the training session, he was seen engaged in a serious conversation with team captain Jordan Ayew. Later, he spent additional time speaking with Mohammed Kudus.
While the details of their discussions remain unknown, Gyan’s presence suggested a mentorship role, possibly offering guidance to the younger players based on his extensive experience at the highest level.

Looking Ahead
With their training sessions in full swing, the Black Stars are intensifying preparations for their crucial World Cup qualifiers. Their commitment and energy suggest a team ready to rise to the challenge. However, external influences, such as GFA officials’ involvement, continue to be a topic of discussion.
