The 11th Joy News Ecobank Habitat Fair which took-off today is supporting government’s efforts to bridge the rising housing deficit in the country, which hovers around two million housing units, by connecting prospective house owners to mortgage financiers, real estate developers, among other suppliers to make their dreams a reality.
More importantly, the various partners including Ecobank Ghana, Duraplast, DBS Roofing, Plan City Extension have made available provisions for Ghanaians to acquire their own houses with ease.

Opening the three days fair [6th November to 8th November] which is themed; “Affordable Housing: Beyond the rhetoric”, Deputy Minister of Works and Housing, Barbara Asher-Ayisi said government’s vision is to use an appropriate mix of public policy and public private investments to deliver quality, affordable social housing and private housing solutions that meet the needs and financial capacity of the ordinary Ghanaian.
The Deputy Minister further stated that government has secured about $51 million to finish the uncompleted affordable housing projects across parts of the country.
“The Ministry has concluded the process to secure funds to complete the stalled affordable housing projects at Koforidua, Tamale and Wa at an estimated cost of $51 million. Accordingly, the Ministry has since transferred the three sites to State Housing Company Limited (SHCL) for completion”, she emphasised.
