The Ningo-Prampram MP has revealed why Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah fled when chaos broke during the inauguration of the 8th Parliament.
Speaking in an interview, Sam Nartey George explained that the future of the country rested on the shoulders of the Chief Justice in the absence of a President, Vice President and the Speaker of Parliament.
This, according to him, was the major reason he fled the scene upon the arrival of military personnel in the Chamber.
“Chief Justice ran away from Parliament when the soldiers came because nobody knew what the soldiers were going to do.
"If any misfortune had happened to the Chief Justice at that short period, that could have amounted to an attack on the state,” he said.
Sam George among many other legislators including Murtala Mohammed, Dr Dominic Ayine, has accused former Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul of deploying military personnel into the Chamber.
According to him, the Bimbila MP “did not have the power” to carry out such orders.
“Whiles we were in the House Dominic Nitiwul kept on telling us that if we did not behave ourselves he was going to bring in the military and we kept telling him he had no power to do so,” he added.
Although Sam George has condemned the act orchestrated by Mr Nitiwul, he indicated that the military posed no threat to any legislator present.
“You may condemn their entry but their conduct was professional,” he stated.
