Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has firmly dismissed reports claiming it provided a GH¢12 million sponsorship package to the Ghana national football team.
In a public notice issued by the Board, the allegation that funds earmarked for cocoa farmers were redirected to support the national team was described as “false, misleading, and without any factual basis.”
COCOBOD stressed that it has not financed the Black Stars in any form and has not reallocated money intended for cocoa farmers for football-related activities.

> “At no point has COCOBOD diverted funds meant for farmer payments to support the Black Stars,” the statement emphasised.
The Board reiterated that its primary focus remains the welfare of cocoa farmers, highlighting its commitment to timely payments for cocoa purchases, the supply of farm inputs, extension services, and sustained investment in the cocoa industry.
COCOBOD further advised the public to disregard the circulating claims and rely only on its official communication platforms for verified information.
The clarification comes at a time of heightened public interest in how state institutions allocate resources for national programmes, with the Board seeking to reassure stakeholders — particularly cocoa farmers — that their interests remain its top priority.
