The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has convened a high-level stakeholder meeting to outline the future direction of Ghana’s Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) platform.
The meeting, held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, brought together key industry players to deliberate on strategies to ensure the long-term sustainability of the DTT system.
The Minister stressed the importance of collaboration, noting that DTT remains the broadcasting platform with the widest national coverage and plays a vital role in Ghana’s digital broadcasting landscape.

As part of the engagement, the Minister announced the formation of a 13-member committee, to be chaired by the National Communications Authority (NCA), tasked with developing a fair and transparent cost-sharing framework for DTT operations.

The committee is expected to present a preliminary report within 30 days, after which broader stakeholder consultations will continue.

He assured participants that the process would remain inclusive, with no final decisions taken without further engagement. Discussions during the meeting covered operational costs, service quality, network reliability, and efficient utilisation of infrastructure.

The committee comprises representatives from the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations; the National Communications Authority (NCA); the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA); the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC); the National Media Commission (NMC); and KNet Ltd.
