The Wa District Court has sentenced three persons to a fine of 200 penalty units, each, equivalent to GH¢2,400 for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
Yahaya Samad, 27, Adams Alhassan, 37 and Yiritang Boosi, 25, admitted that they possessed the arms and ammunition without a license.
They were convicted on their own pleas and sentenced accordingly.
The Court, presided over by Mr Simon Kofi Bediako, ordered the convicts' incarceration for nine months if they defaulted.
Earlier, the Upper West Regional Police Command arrested the three persons who openly displayed the arms and ammunition without a license.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr Francis Yiribaare, the Commander, said a spot search on Samad, Alhassan and Boosi revealed three single-barreled guns and 23 cartridges, among other items.
