DKT Ghana has launched Femject, a new three-month injectable contraceptive, aimed at expanding access to affordable family planning options and strengthening reproductive health services across the country.
The launch took place at the DKT Ghana office in Accra and attracted stakeholders from the reproductive health sector, including officials from the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Pharmaceutical Council, Population Council, Total Family Health Organization (TFHO), PATH Ghana, Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), Lydia Partner Clinics, community representatives, the media, and DKT staff.
Speaking at the event, Country Director of DKT Anglophone West Africa, Alex Brown, said the introduction of Femject comes at a critical time when donor funding for reproductive health is declining.
He explained that the product is intended to widen contraceptive choices for women while ensuring continued access to reliable and affordable family planning methods.

He noted that Femject will support national efforts to reduce unplanned pregnancies and maternal deaths associated with unsafe abortions.
DKT Ghana’s contribution to family planning delivery was acknowledged in a goodwill message delivered by Dr. Doris Amarteifio on behalf of Dr. Kennedy T. C. Brightson, Head of the GHS Family Health Division. The message commended DKT for its consistent role in improving access to contraceptives nationwide.

Further support was expressed by Dr. Claudette Diogo of the GHS Pharmacy Division, who reaffirmed the Division’s collaboration with DKT Ghana. TFHO CEO, Joseph Yobo, also welcomed the introduction of Femject and called for stronger collaboration among Social Marketing Organizations to better respond to market demand.
Meanwhile, Regional Business Development Manager for Anglophone West Africa at WomenCare Global, Paul Eden, manufacturers of Femject, assured stakeholders of the product’s safety and quality, noting that it meets international standards.
DKT Ghana, producers and distributors of popular contraceptive brands including Lydia Contraceptive, Fiesta and Kiss Condoms, and the Ezee-1 Emergency Contraceptive Pill, said Femject will be made commercially available at affordable prices through its nationwide distribution network.

The introduction of Femject is expected to further strengthen Ghana’s family planning landscape by expanding reproductive health choices for women and healthcare providers.
