The management of Dodi Papase Senior High Technical School in the Kedjebi District of the Oti Region has urgently requested that the district environmental officer address the issue of stray cattle invading the school grounds.
The school’s governing board chairman, Emmanuel Hanson Torde, expressed concerns in a letter addressed to health authorities, stating that the situation persists despite previous efforts to manage the problem.

“Please accept compliments from the Governing Board and the Management of Dodi-Papase Senior High Technical School. You may recall our letter on the above matter, which was sent to your office on 16th October 2024. We regret to inform you that the issue remains unresolved,” Mr Torde wrote to the district environmental health officer.
He explained that the cattle continue to damage the school’s demonstration farms and disrupt teaching and learning activities. “These stray animals are causing significant damage to the school’s demonstration farms and threaten the safety of students and staff. Students and teachers are being chased out of dining halls, dormitories, classrooms, and staff common rooms.”
The ongoing problem has reportedly led to teachers refusing postings to the school. “Due to the alarming situation, some tutors are considering abandoning their posts for their safety,” Mr Torde revealed.
The school is now appealing for urgent measures to address the issue so that teaching and learning can proceed without further disruption. “We kindly remind you once again to take immediate action to prevent the owners of these cattle and other animals from allowing them to graze on the school premises.”
In the letter, Mr Torde added, “This will be our final complaint on this matter, and we look forward to an amicable solution to the problem.” He concluded by stressing the importance of cooperation in resolving the matter.
