The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has commenced installing some 400 power transformers on its transmission lines in the Volta and Oti Regions to improve power supply.
The Regional Manager of ECG, Emmanuel Lumor, who announced this, said the installation forms part of an initiative to ensure clients in his jurisdiction are provided with excellent customer services.
Speaking at a stakeholder engagement with traders at the Ho Market, Mr Lumor noted that the interaction is to solicit views from the public on how best the power distributing company can work on its shortcomings.
“We have planned to inject over 400 transformers this year into our network, and already we have 2, 445 or so, and we want to add up to reduce the low voltage and expand our system and network. We will replace rotten poles and things that will cause outages in our system.
“We have seen some gaps in our service delivery, so the ECG is looking at excellent customer service; how we interact with them and our response time to complaints, among others,” he stated.
Mr Lumor further urged customers to avoid engaging middle-me but should deal directly with ECG officials at their various service centres.
“Some of the customers they want to go through people before they acquire our service. And these are resulting in illegal connection and 'goro' boys duping many of them and people cheating them. So they must come to us, not them,” he stressed.
